For the month of May, we will be Praying Through The Proverbs. Unlike a Bible study, we will simply pray a few key Scriptures each day. We’ll concentrate on how these verses apply to our individual lives, and ask God to reveal to us if there is anything specific we need to repent of or work on. Today let’s look at Chapter 21.*

Today, let’s just contemplate the Sovereignty of God.

Key Verses in Chapter 21:

v.1  The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.

There is no one so great that he isn’t under the rule of the LORD; not even a king. “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or powers, or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him, and for Him.” (Col. 1:16).  Regardless of man’s choices, God ‘s will will be done; He will redirect every action to accomplish His plan.

v.31  The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.

While our military powers should be ready to protect us, we can rest assured that God will be victorious! Whether protecting us here on earth or removing us to heaven, our only true protection is the LORD.  “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.” (Ps. 20:7-8).

My Prayer

Father God, I humbly enter this, my secret place, and acknowledge I am in the Presence of the One True God. Thank You for meeting me here. Forgive me so I can stand in Your Presence clean and holy.

I just worship You, Father. You are Creator and LORD, Sovereign above all else! You know my every desire, and regardless of the choices I make, in the end, I know You will direct my path to accomplish Your plan. Give me an obedient heart and help me to choose wisely….not only for my own good, but so I don’t waste any time in doing the Kingdom work You have purposed me for.

I also pray for those our elected and appointed officials….from local levels to the White House, and around the world. Raise up godly men and women that will think selflessly – and in accordance with Your commands – for the wellbeing of our nation and its citizens, not for profit or power. May they look to You for guidance, and may they choose wisely those who will advise them and execute their vision for our country, and our communities.

Even amidst all the chaos of this world, we know that victory is already Yours! May Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven: fully and joyfully.

I pray these things in Jesus’ Name…
