For the month of May, we will be Praying Through The Proverbs. Unlike a Bible study, we will simply pray a few key Scriptures each day. We’ll concentrate on how these verses apply to our individual lives, and ask God to reveal to us if there is anything specific we need to repent of or work on. Today we look at Chapter 19.*

Today’s verses warn against following our own path.

Key Verses in Chapter 19:

v.2  It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

If you have no real direction in life but are in a hurry to get there….you’ll miss the mark every time! Acting rashly rarely works out well.

v.3  A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.

Only a fool blames God for his troubles. It’s our own sinful nature that is at fault; not God.

v.21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

We can’t trust our own heart, but we can always trust God’s will. Therefore, we must search His Word for guidance, and ask the Holy Spirit to lead us in the right way.

My Prayer

Father God, I humbly enter this, my secret place, and acknowledge I am in the Presence of the One True God. Thank You for meeting me here. Forgive me so I can stand in Your Presence clean and holy.

Build up in me an obedient heart that wants only to obey Your commands to the fullest. I know that when I try to set my own plan, I only get in my own way.

Give me clarity as to what I can do today that will bring You glory, Father…then show me the next thing, and the next. Give me wisdom, and discernment, and understanding as to what You reveal to me….and equip me and empower me to do the work You have purposed me for. I trust Your will; may Your will be done.

I pray these things in Jesus’ Name…
