For the month of May, we will be Praying Through The Proverbs. Unlike a Bible study, we will simply pray a few key Scriptures each day. We’ll concentrate on how these verses apply to our individual lives, and ask God to reveal to us if there is anything specific we need to repent of or work on. Today let’s look at Chapter 18.*

Today we focus on one thing: The powerful Name of Jesus!

Key Verses in Chapter 18:

v. 10   The Name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Jesus is our salvation, and His Name is all-powerful. “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil. 2:9-11, emphasis mine).

We pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus because Jesus told us, “And I will do whatever you ask in My Name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My Name, and I will do it.” (John 14:13-14, emphasis mine).

My Prayer

Father God, I humbly enter this, my secret place, and acknowledge I am in the Presence of the One True God. Thank You for meeting me here. Forgive me so I can stand in Your Presence clean and holy.

Even when I am overwhelmed and or beat down, You are my Strong Tower! You are “a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” (Ps. 9:9).  Fill me when I am depleted, Father; help me to stand firm in Your shadow. I know that because You are “at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” (Ps. 16:8).

“I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.” (Ps. 13:5-6). Hallelujah! Praise the LORD! “Salvation and glory and power belong to our God…” (Rev. 19:1).

I ask these things in Your Name, Jesus…the Name above all other names….
