For the month of May, we will be Praying Through The Proverbs. Unlike a Bible study, we will simply pray a few key Scriptures each day. We’ll concentrate on how these verses apply to our individual lives, and ask God to reveal to us if there is anything specific we need to repent of or work on. Today we look into Chapter 2.*

Key Verses in Chapter 2:

Promise of  wisdom and understanding and knowledge:

v1-4 My son, IF you ACCEPT my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and APPLYING your heart to understanding, and IF you CALL OUT for insight and CRY ALOUD for understanding, and IF you look for it as for silver and search for it AS FOR HIDDEN TREASURE,

v5 – THEN you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

IF/THEN emphasis mine. We must wholeheartedly pursue the LORD’s wisdom and knowledge; a half-hearted effort won’t suffice.

Promise of protection:

v11-12 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

Promise to the blameless. Warning to the wicked:

v.21-22 For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

My Prayer

Father God, I humbly enter this, my secret place, and acknowledge I am in the Presence of the One True God. Thank You for meeting me here. Forgive me so I can stand in Your Presence clean and holy.

In Proverbs 2, You promise wisdom and understanding and knowledge….but only if I pursue them wholeheartedly. I want them, Father! Light in me a consuming fire for these things, that I may live a life under Your protection, safe from the ways of wicked men.

I choose Your ways, and I trust Your will. May Your will be done, and Your Name glorified.

I pray these things in the powerful Name of Jesus…
